Leadership Longevity
Proverbs 29:14 (TPT)
“The best insurance for a leader’s longevity is to demonstrate justice for the poor.”
I know in this crazy season, most living and vision for survival is now in the day-to-day, not month-to-month or even year-to-year. I also know that if you’re a leader you want to stick around long past this pandemic. This verse is a great reminder that thinking long term and short term is necessary and I think we can do both at the same time. We can think long term in our longevity by looking short term at simply demonstrating justice in the day to day.
What does demonstrating justice look like?
This season now more than ever we have so many options to demonstrate justice for the poor. Really most of us fall into that category now of poor somehow. We could be poor in community, poor in finances, poor in health and the list can go on. If you’re a leader, demonstrating justice is running your business right, taking care of your employees and not cutting corners in this time for your benefit or profit. Demonstrating justice for your community is empathizing what people have lost, in particular seniors in high school and college. The most fitting example of demonstrating justice in this season would simply be giving a roll of toilet paper to someone in need of some! It could look like caring for the elderly around you. Everyone deserves to be cared for, and in this season we all need that more than ever. If you want to make it is a leader, jump out of self-preservation mode and care for others around you.
Proverbs 29:4 (TPT)
“A godly leader who values justice is a great strength and example to the people. But the one who sells his influence for money tears down what is right.”
Use this season to show our families, spouses, employees, and communities justice in any instance possible, and it will set you up to be around for the long haul.
We’re with you and for you in this season!
